Melbourne Art Deco Wedding

Weddings are always such a special event but this one was so much more special for me. On a cool autumn Melbourne afternoon my darling sister, Shelby married the love of her life, Timothy.
I was asked to be her photographer and her Matron of Honour, so I had a helping hand from Melbourne-based photographer Chris Walter who photographed the ceremony.
As part of my many duties, I dressed my sister in a traditional Estonian bridal outfit before the ceremony. She adorned a traditional Estonian bonnet, apron, belt and bridal brooch. The wedding attire however would be far more glamorous than this humble folk outfit.
The moment Shelby walked down the aisle at The Royal Botanic Gardens in her navy and gold sequence art deco gown, no woman alive would ever consider wearing a white wedding dress again. That sums up my sister, she’s original and bold.
The ceremony was beautiful with Timothy visibly overwhelmed with his Baltic Queen’s presence. He took a deep breath, clasped his hands and soaked in every second of this special moment.
Shelby was buzzing ‘Everybody I love is here!’ she proclaimed walking down the aisle with our brother Clinton by her side. She giggled and bounced around gazing at Timothy waiting for the moment she could kiss her new husband and seal the deal.
The happy couple walked back down to the aisle hand in hand now as husband and wife. The crowd cheered and clapped as Timothy high-fived his nieces and nephews on his way to married life. It was a joyous moment.
The reception was buzzing, with some serious dance moves not just from the bride and groom but the guests were burning up the dance floor! Timothy’s 81-year-old father, Terry was busting some serious moves, he kept up with the youngsters who were also putting on a show.
Guests mingled, families met and food and wine was had. The speeches were a hit with deep and touching tributes, but the highlight was Timothy’s slam poem about his love for Shelby. This quiet and humble man comes alive spitting rhymes about his beloved.
The night ended with cake, more dancing and goodbyes. The happy couple walked out of the gates embracing each other into their new life together.
Please enjoy Shelby and Timothy’s wedding.
